Bonneville Salt Flats Elopement

After a few months of chatting, the day finally came to photograph Catherine and Jonathans elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats. These two came out from North Carolina to share their vows in this gorgeous spot, and it was an absolute honor to be apart (to say the least). Catherine and Jonathan are so full of love and light- it’s palpable, and so amazing to witness. So excited to see where life takes these two. xx

Looking for images that capture your love in a unique and intimate way? I’d love to capture them for you. Let’s chat.

Why Elope at the Bonneville Salt Flats?

1. Stunning Natural Beauty: The Bonneville Salt Flats provide a one-of-a-kind setting that’s hard to find anywhere else in the world. The endless white salt crust against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains offers a dramatic and beautiful contrast that will make your wedding photos extraordinary.

2. Simplicity and Budget-Friendly: Eloping here can be incredibly simple and cost-effective. There’s no venue fee since it’s on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, offering a significant budget bonus for couples. However, it’s important to note that a special use permit is required for weddings, ensuring that your celebration respects the unique environment of the Salt Flats.

3. Privacy and Intimacy: The vastness of the Salt Flats allows for a level of privacy and intimacy that’s hard to achieve in more traditional wedding venues. This setting is perfect for couples looking for a serene and personal ceremony without the distractions of a typical wedding day.

4. Adventure and Uniqueness: For adventurous couples, an elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats is an unforgettable way to start your journey together. The unique landscape not only provides a stunning setting for your ceremony but also reflects a desire for experiences that are out of the ordinary.

5. Accessibility: Despite its seemingly remote location, the Salt Flats are relatively accessible, located near Wendover, Utah. This makes it easier for couples to plan their elopement, especially if they’re traveling from out of state.

Planning Your Elopement:

When planning your elopement at the Bonneville Salt Flats, consider the timing of your ceremony to take advantage of the best light for photographs, typically during golden hour. Also, be prepared for the environment – the Salt Flats can be very bright and reflective, and depending on the time of year, conditions can vary from dry to partially submerged under water.

Remember to check the latest regulations and requirements for obtaining a special use permit from the BLM to ensure your elopement complies with all necessary guidelines. Planning ahead and being mindful of the delicate ecosystem will help make your elopement both beautiful and responsible.

Eloping at the Bonneville Salt Flats offers a mix of beauty, adventure, and simplicity that’s hard to match. It’s an ideal choice for couples looking to make their wedding day uniquely theirs, set against one of the most breathtaking landscapes in the United States.
